Is 64gb RAM overkill?
For gaming yes.
Ok, nowadays, with modern/new games you will want 16gb of RAM.
If you do more than just gaming (rendering/editing/graphical work), 32gb starts to become the minimum, 64gb the norm, and 128 for overkill (extreme usage).
Is it better to use 2 sticks of RAM or 4?
General rule with Ryzen is always to prefer 2 sticks over 4. If you want 32GB get 2x16GB. 2x8GB will have better timings/speeds though. the more physical chips on the dimm, the denser the routing and the worse signal integrity you get.
Is 4 sticks of RAM bad?
The four sticks will just run through two channels. If you want to overclock it might be harder to get a stable clock or the stable clock will be lower. Otherwise there is no performance disadvantage to populating all the slots.
Can you add 8gb RAM to 4gb?
If you want to add more RAM than that, say, by adding an 8GB module to your 4GB module, it’ll work but the performance of a portion of the 8GB module will be lower. In the end that extra RAM probably won’t be enough to matter (which you can read more about below.)
Can I put 3 ram sticks?
To answer your question yes you can use three sticks of ram, however you will not get the maximum performance from it like you will from matched pairs in dual channel. For stability & performance, never mix sets and always configure in dual channel mode.
Should I get a single 16gb RAM or 2 8gb RAM which is better?
Depends on how many slots you have on the motherboard. If you have 2 slots, a single 16gb is better, since you can upgrade in the future easier. If you have 4 slots or you don’t plan to ever upgrade, 2x8gb is better since that is faster and will increase the performance of your pc.
How many sticks of RAM do I need?
In general, we recommend at least 4GB of RAM and think that most users will do well with 8GB. Choose 16GB or more if you’re a power user, if you run today’s most demanding games and applications, or if you simply want to make sure you’re covered for any future needs.
Is 16gb RAM faster than 8gb?
With 16GB of RAM the system is still able to produce 9290 MIPS where the 8GB configuration is over 3x slower. Looking at the kilobytes per second data we see that the 8GB configuration is 11x slower than the 16GB configuration.
Is 32gb RAM overkill?
Is 32GB overkill? In general, yes. The only real reason an average user would need 32GB is for future proofing. As far as just simply gaming goes, 16GB is plenty, and really, you can get by just fine with 8GB.
Is it okay to use different RAM sticks?
It is advisable to use RAM sticks by the same manufacturer, of the same size, and of the same frequency. … However, this doesn’t mean you can’t use different size RAM sticks together. For example, if your first stick is 4GB, you can still add a new 8GB stick.
Can I use 4 4gb RAM sticks?
Yes, it is advisable to use RAM sticks by the same manufacturer, of the same size, and of the same frequency.
Is it better to have 1 or 2 RAM sticks?
If your motherboard has 4 slots for RAM, two 4GB sticks is better because you can already have dual channel, meaning faster memory. … RAM sticks in line, in even numbers, means they can be channeled; meaning faster memory. More small capacity sticks over less big capacity sticks always, unless you plan on upgrading soon.
Does the number of RAM sticks matter?
The RAM itself does not matter no, but the slots on the motherboard that you use does. There are two slots that are used for the heap memory, meaning the computers temporary variables, and the other two are used solely for logical storage. Pending on what you are doing on your computer, it might matter.
Should I fill all 4 RAM slots?
If you have four RAM slots, always buy matched pairs of RAM (two sticks from the same company, same speed, and same capacity) for the best results. So, in this case, where there are four slots, the RAM should have been placed in quantities of 2, 4, 6, or 8.
Can I have 2 8gb and 2 16gb RAM?
yes, you can put a couple of 16GB modules on the other couple of empty memory slots as long as they are same size in couples.
